G-SPACE TEAM PREPARES TO INSTALL GREEN WALL
FOR PNC BANK IN PITTSBURGH

Initial Concept Design Associated designers on the wall system are
Mingo Design of NYC and BD&E Fischer Architecture.
The Green Wall will be installed over a green, VOC compliant, waterproofing membrane system:
Coal Tar Elastomeric Membrane waterproofing, supplied by Moisture Controls of Hamburg PA

PNC BANK GREEN WALL
In conjunction with GLT, G_space will install the largest North American Soil Based Green Wall to date.
PNC Bank, a leader in green building and LEED certified buildings, is now working with g_space / Philly Green Wall and GLT of Rochester NY to install this elaborate wall.
The south facing 2380 SF wall is intended to bring the hard surfaced One PNC Plaza to life, reduce noise and heat island effects.

PLANT CONNECTIONS
GROWING FACILITY
The 24′ x 24″ x 4″ deep wall panels for PNC Bank in Pittsburgh are being pregrown by Plant Connections of Long Island NY. Pregrown panels should reach 80 – 90% maturity by the time they are installed.
The wall will contain Ajuga, Carex, Euonymous, Ferns, Heucheria, Lysimachia, and Sedums.
Installation slated to be complete September 21, 2009 by

G-SPACE TEAM CONTINUES WORK ON GREEN WALL FOR MURAL ARTS GATEWAY PROJECT
Artist’s Statement: “JEFRË was selected in a national design competition by the Philadelphia Mural Arts to develop a series of gateway sculptures West Philadelphia. This project is first in history of the 30 year Mural Art Program to expand its program into the medium contemporary arts that is a non-mural. The sculpture is based on the reflections and ecological history of the Schuylkill River. Schuylkill is translated in Dutch Language for ” hidden river”, due to the dense ecological vegetation along the edges. The sculpture serves as a metaphoric gateway of the river that divides West Philly from the downtown and composed of two slender vertical fields of green and polished reflective steel. One field reflects Downtown Philly while the other reflects West Philly. The outside faces are composed of living vegetated material that change during the seasons similar to the river and designed to collect rainwater and provide a self sustaining ecological solution to sculpture in Philadelhia. In addition to the physical characteristics of the river the sculpture is an extension of the rich urban gardening history of Philly the sculpture serve as three dimensional community gardens that could provide edible products for the residents.”

WEST PHILA GATEWAY PROJECT
Designed by renowed environmental artist Jefre this sculpture was a winning entry in a competition for the West Philadelphia Gateway Project.
The Project consists of two towers clad on 3 sides in mirror finished stainless steel with a soil based green wall system on the 4th face. The project also intends to install a Bioswale and Concrete seating wall that collects water runoff from the adjacent Bank parking lot and stores that water in an underground tank for use in watering the vegetation.
