Green walls for the front and rear areaways at Lindenguild Hall in the Bronx NY are now complete. The green walls are a series of green wall panels with brick piers between them.
Philly green wall makes custom trim and accessories for GLTi green wall systems that meet all the various conditions for installations. This trim was designed to capture rainfall and snow buildup from the adjacent masonry wall to assist the crucial winter watering, since the irrigation system is shut down. As opposed to plantings on the ground, green walls drain down and dry out. As temperatures rise above freezing plants come out of dormancy with the roots searching for water. If the soil is totally dry the roots die and the plant may be dead by springtime when the irrigation system is turned on again. Plantings on the ground can usually find some water from melting snow or rain, but green walls cannot. The rain capturing trim is an attempt to take advantage of melting snowfall and rainfall to provide minimal watering to the green wall.
